Role Overview
As the Clinical Educator/Instructor you will play a critical role in the education, competency development, and risk awareness of our staff within the care team. This position is responsible for delivering high-quality clinical training while proactively identifying, monitoring, and addressing clinical practice risks. The role requires flexibility to work every other weekend and to travel between facilities and clients’ homes to provide hands-on training, coaching, and support.
Shift Details
- Location: Main Office (In-person role; travel to Kitchener TCU and client homes required as needed)
- Pay Range: $38 - $42 per Hour
- Shift Timing: Monday - Friday (9AM-5PM)
Key Responsibilities
Skills, Training, and Education
- Lead and facilitate orientations for Field staff, ensuring smooth onboarding experience and readiness for client care.
- Develop, implement, and deliver comprehensive clinical training programs for new and existing staff.
- Provide hands-on education and coaching on clinical skills, protocols, policies, and best practices in facilities and clients’ homes as required.
- Conduct skills assessments and competency evaluations for clinical team members.
- Monitor and assess staff performance, providing feedback, guidance, and reinforcement as needed.
- Collaborate with clinical leads and nursing leadership to identify skill gaps and tailor training plans.
- Maintain accurate documentation of training activities, assessments, attendance, and progress reports.
- Assist in the development, review, and updating of training materials and educational resources.
- Ensure consistency in training standards across all care settings.
Risk Management and Compliance
- Educate and coach staff on incident identification, timely reporting, and documentation requirements
- Identify clinical practice risks and areas of concern through observation, audits, and field visits.
- Support clinical staff in understanding and adhering to clinical protocols, standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Monitor compliance with policies and escalate risks or trends to clinical leadership as appropriate.
- Provide education and coaching related to risk prevention, safe practices, and quality improvement.
- Collaborate with leadership to support continuous improvement initiatives related to patient safety and staff competency.
Operational Requirements:
- Travel between facilities, client homes, and other care settings as required to provide training and support.
- Work every other weekend and rotational shifts to meet clinical training and operational needs.
- Perform other related duties as assigned based on organizational needs.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Registered Nurse (RN) in good standing with the College of Nurses.
- Demonstrates leadership and strong teamwork skills.
- Strong teaching, facilitation, and coaching abilities; prior experience in healthcare education is an asset.
- Knowledge of clinical protocols, best practices, and regulatory standards.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Ability to travel between facilities and clients’ homes as required.
